Miami isn’t the kind of city where hailing a taxi is easy anywhere. In most cases, it’s necessary to have a company’s phone number to give them your pickup location. Never get in an unmarked car or take an unsolicited ride. Taxis are well-marked, typically yellow. Fares are typically $2.50 for the first 1/6 mile and $0.40 after that per 1/6 mile. There’s usually a 0.40 charge per minute waiting. Add on an extra $2 if you’re starting at the airport. Here are a few reputable companies: Yellow Cab, 305-777-7777; Miami-Dade Taxis, 305-551-1111; Super Yellow Cab, 305-888-7777.
