In association with its connected Y Art Gallery, Malako is arguably Minsk's hippest spot where artists young and old gather to drink the nights away. It's also a great place to stop by for an afternoon coffee and check e-mail thanks to Malako's free wifi connection. Throughout the week, performances and talks take place inside, as well as regular musical performances from the city's most talented artists and DJs playing music like funk, hip-hop, electro, and indie. The young staff speaks a little English and there are even English-language menus. Overall, an essential oasis of avant-garde cool that would feel just as at home in hip western European cities such as Amsterdam or Berlin.
