Editor's review
Muscovites love the theatre, and with over forty professional theatres and many more amateur ones, few cities aside from London can match the volume and variety of performances on offer at any one time. This particular venue stages predominantly classic Russian drama, and you can see some excellent adaptations of Chekhov, Gogol and of course Pushkin himself, as well as performances of more contemporary work. The Pushkin Theatre is also renowned amongst buffs for employing too few cloakroom staff, so perhaps you're best to visit during summer or you may find yourself in a violent scrum for coats. Sharpen those elbows and give 'em hell!
