It is a beautiful structure and as I survey its majestic likeness in a photograph, it reminds me of my Russian ancestry, and makes me long to return once again.
Best seen from a distance. A quite marvellous building perfectly placed in the rear of the square. Went inside, the best part was listening to a choir singing. Otherwise not so very interesting.
Amazing!!! Everything you imagine it would be. St Basil's is the most spectacular piece of architecture in Moscow
It's easy to be overwhelmed by the Red Square - St Basil's Cathedral alone is astonishing. But tucked away in the corner is a smaller, more intimate church which is well worth the visit. Entirely reconstructed in the early 1990s, the Kazan Cathedral is an intimate and "working" church, home to dozens of people praying, dropping in on their way home from work to light a candle, and bemused tourists. The intricacy and delicacy of the interior decor contrasts well against the exuberant external colours. There is a true feeling of spirituality in this little chapel which I thought was very special indeed.
Not much to look at from the inside, and often has some scaffolding on the outside. Still absolutely brilliant. I took about forty photos!
I love this place. The views from the bridge on the other side are awesome too!
