Reviews of Museums in Moscow
sweet
Great museum, a must for all space enthusiasts! Lots of paraphernalia, very well exhibited. Very easy to get to: right next to the metro station.
Really interesting museum but with lots of amazing exhibits and stories. Unfortunately I couldn't understand any of it as it was all in Russian. A real shame as a bit of text in a common language (English/Spanish/French) would have really made it. Definitely worth a visit though.
I really like NASA stuff, so when I'm in Moscow, I'll have to check this out. Probably quite different, I'm guessing.
very good looking
my russian friend took me here... very interesting museum!! check it out
Retro and awesome! I love this kind of stuff so had a great time. Learned a lot from a distinctly Russian perspective... fascinating!
i'm looking forward to the December Nights festival already!
Pushkin Fine Arts Museum is definitely one of the best in Moscow, if not Russia. Even if you're only in town for a few days, you should put this museum on your things to do list.
I visited the museum in summer '07 - and was astounded at the prolific amount and style of his work. Definitely in the very large scale but allows the viewer to change perspective on life being miniscule in comparison to the scale of the works.
Fantastic old museum. Retro but cool. Fantastic socialist reliefs on the rocket monument outside. Worth the trip north for the Cosmonaut museum
Excellent historical museum, from prehistoric time up until the Russian Revolution. Two floors, 2nd floor prehistoric - 1700, 3rd floor 1700ish - 1900 (Alexander III). English tour book (200R) for second floor only (they don't have a 3rd floor book in Russian yet either). Well worth the time, excellent exhibits, especially the military halls. If you are a history buff, a must see. Takes about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Separate fee to take non-flash pics, and if you don't look Russian, the little old ladies will want to see your camera pass(75R). Combo pass for this mueseum and St. Basil's, camera pass good for both. Nice way to spend some time around Red Square.
If you're not in Moscow for very long then this place is not a priority - but if you're on the Arbat and it's raining then its worth a quick sniff around...more for the house than the exhibits which are mainly tiny sketches
Nice museum, in a curious kind of way. A lot of the exhibits are models rather than the real things (presumably because they are 'lost in space'), but still worth the short trip north. Amusingly when we tried to take a photo we were told we had to buy a special pass, but only seconds after we politely demurred, the very same attendant was insisting that we posed for a shot in front of Yuri Gargarin - while she manned the camera! Then she went off and fined an American guy with a cam-corder!!! Must be our English charm....
