Culture in Poznan
The cultural vibe in Poznan is a positive one. Throughout the year you'll find a range of events in every nook and cranny of the city not to mention permanent features that are open all year round. In June St John's fair hits the Rynek for a week and brings with it market stalls peddling all sorts of delights, fringe theatre groups and street entertainers. The Malta Festival starts at the end of June, or start of July, carrying on for a good nine or ten days. Dance and theatre groups come to town plus a range of film screenings and exhibitions can be enjoyed. The main events draw some big names from around the world and are often staged in some unlikely places.
The theatre is a fashionable destination for Polish folk and Poznan's good handful of theatres host a whole range of performances from opera and ballet through to avant-garde and contemporary. Poznan is home to a mass of museums, monuments and other marvels which span the ages and confirm its place as a cultural hot-spot. Take a look at our culture section and directory to find out more.
