May Celebrations

Early May is a time of celebration for many reasons in Prague. First up is 1 May, which is simply Labour Day Holiday. On 8 May Liberation Day is celebrated, as in many countries across Europe, as the date which Hitler's armed forced officially surrendered and Soviet forces entered the Czech republic. The spring festival of Majales takes place at the start of May as well, generally on 1 May (though parties tend to extend a few days before and after). Majales is generally a student celebration with many outdoor concerts and events planned throughout the city.
