Prague Winter Festival

The world famous festival of classical music, opera & ballet in Prague's finest and most beautiful theatres and concert halls, which has been functioning since 1972, will take place this year from the 2nd to the 7th of January. The Prague Winter Festival was once seen as a unique opportunity to develop cultural relations amongst Europeans who were living on both sides of the iron curtain at the time. Seizing this opportunity, many Czech musicians and artists, including the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Theatre Opera and Ballet Departments, were involved in the start of the festival in 1972, and have continued to participate in the festival throughout its existence.
