With a name like the "Elf" you'd expect this hostel to be playful and fun. Though a bit east of the Old Town, it's just a ten-minute walk to the Central Train Station, and as a bonus the hostel is situated on the second floor of a historic 19th century building in Zizka Park. The outside walls of their garden terrace are covered in artistic graffiti, as are some parts of the inside, which gives the place an unconventional feel. Prices start cheap and include breakfast, and there's even a 5% discount for students.

Great place, cozy rooms, cheap local beer and just walking distance to the city centre... I met a lot of nice people in the common room. Greetings to Hana and Helmut :)
The area is not as shady as the first reviewer describes, really. I had no problems walking to the center, it's really close on foot and there's some cool stuff around if you go exploring. The hostel itself was great - friendly people and nice rooms
Really fun hostel, what a hostel experience should be. The staff were very helpful, gave me a map and let me know of some cool "locals-only" places I would have never found on my own. The only drawback is the location - kind of a shadey neighborhood, but I had no problems personally, travelling with 2 other people.
Pluses: awesome, friendly staff and generally friendly guests who will make sure you don't drink a beer alone. linen and towel provided, and you can rent a lock for the lockers in each room. breakfast minimal but good and FREE, and free internet on three computers... Minuses: ...three very slow computers. if you plan to walk everywhere (which is doable) you have to walk through a pretty shady neighborhood at night to get back to the hostel. it's a good 10 minute walk just to get out of an area where you don't feel like you might get shot at any moment. but you can also take the bus to the old town. also, the train comes by literally within 10 metres of the hostel on a bridge. if you're a light sleeper, this could definitely be an issue, especially in the early morning.
