NHL Team to Open Season in Prague
Opening the forthcoming 2010-2011 NHL (National Hockey League) season, American ice hockey team the Boston Bruins play two games in Prague.
Several other NHL teams will also play games in countries across Europe in an effort to boost the league's popularity in European countries which already have a great interest in the sport, such as Sweden and Finland. The Czech Republic is also a hockey loving country - their men's national hockey team is one of the most successful in the world.
The Boston Bruins have two Czech players. Vladimir Sobotka who grew up in the town of Trebic, played in Prague for five years. Hailing from Sternberk, David Krejci will join the Czech Republic's team in competing in the Winter Olympics this month in Vancouver.
The Boston Bruins will play against the Phoenix Coyotes at the 02 arena on 9 and 10 October.
