Small, family-run hotels always have their own particular quirks and charms that appeal to travelers, and the Augustine is no exception.
It is based in a century-old wooden structure, that has been renovated to meet modern standards of style and comfort. With just 11 rooms, it is certainly a homely place, with a personal and friendly service at a cost one might expect to be somewhat higher given such frills.
That's not all. The hotel's location makes it easy to get to and from the old town of Riga, while travelers on a real shoestring may be able to pitch their tent in the hotel's secure courtyard. Indoors, private, en suite shower and WC come as standard, as do cable TV and a hairdryer. The hotel offers a free breakfast each day, and use of the kitchen from 2pm, for self-catering guests. Car parking is available on site, and pets are always welcome at no extra cost.
