perfect place ! clean and good breakfast
Great place to stay in Riga...
Cozy hotel. Nice atmosphere
Definitely one of the best 4-star hotels in Old Town of Riga regardless if you are looking for a comfortable stay during your holiday or business trip in a convenient location close to the best sights and transport. The prices are always adequate and competitive so great value for money. Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff always ensure you get the best experience from your stay! Worth recommending!
Perfect service for the good price!
Very good place to stay in Riga! Location, service and staff!
Great hostel, with really comfortable beds, friendly staff and amazing location. Would book again in a heartbeat!
Very good location and a very, very, friendly staff , it is recommend for a visit.
Whoever named this hostel obvious knows a thing or two about keywords and search engine optimisation! Either that or they have a distinct lack of imagination. But pointless pontifications aside, I stayed in Old Town Hostel some while back for a few nights and as with most hostel experiences it had its ups and downs. Positives were the superb location, decent rooms and facilities and the fact that, from my position on the top bunk, I could see nubile young Latvians practicing their routines in the dance school opposite. Negatives were the staff, who, whilst stopping short of being rude, groaned in irritation whenever I interrupted one of their frequent naps or DVD sessions to ask them to actually do their job in some way or form. The sleep-conscious should also note that some of the rooms are directly above the hostel's pub, meaning it can presumably get noisy... although I cunningly side-stepped that potential pitfall by simply staying out until 5am every night. I didn't try out the famous sauna, although it definitely saw some hot action one night (another story, involving Finnish rockers and Canadian art students). The downstairs kitchen is decent enough place to plan your day with a cup of tea in the afternoon or watch hardcore porn with an old Japanese geezer early in the morning. Hey if old people do it, it must be respectable - right?
The price for 4 night n transport from airport to the hotel Thanks Franco
Worth visiting! Excellent breakfast!
Good hotel. In a quiet area, but not far from the center. Excellent staff, verry friendly. Nice restaurant
Had a brilliant time at this hostel. I'm a solo traveller, so the nightly pub and club tours with a beautiful local guide were much appreciated.
A brilliant place to stay! It was definitely friendly - and a bit mad, but we had an awesome time here. Full marks, guys!
Clean apartment at a decent rate, no problems
This place is awesome! Frank is the man and his staff are exceptional. I cant recommend it enough. There were 21 of us in total and none of us had any complaints about franks place! IT was clean, tidy, all the staff were approachable and the beers were cold!Good on ya Frank
Great place, we were only passing through for one night but glad we found it, close to everything and good place to chill..
Like a hotel.
Well this is definitely one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Extremely nice staff, quite laid-back but clean and comfortable at the same time, a nice small place downstairs to hang out with fellow travellers, roomy dorms .... i would definitely recommend it to anyone without thinking twice. If only i had to mention something, i would say that it is not exactyl downtown, but still, it's an easy 10 minute walk to the center and even less to the train station. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
The Hotel Riga is Great! The staff are wonderful and helpful. The people are Riga were so friendly and helpful. After reading several negative reviews, I did not know what to expect. I would go back to the Hotel Riga anytime. I had a beautiful room with excellent bathroom facilities. The breakfast buffet was incredible. Riga rocks!
I don't understand what Garikoitz is talking about - the rooms are clean, and of course they're shared rooms, it's a hostel! If you want posh private rooms go to a hotel, but at hostel you get what yuo pay for! Here the people were nice, and the only bad people were drunk guests, but that is normal at hostels too.
Nice rooms and friendly people, had a good time in Riga (but stay away from the strip clubs and seedy-looking places!)
My best friend and I stayed for 4 nights at Riga Hostel at Marstalu 12 in Old Riga (the website on here is NOT the Riga Hostel they are talking of--the site is for ALA which is really far away from there and more costly!). It was simply AWESOME. There's a picture widely spread of a party around a table--that was the birthday of Christine, an employee there that we'd contacted about helping us around town (she was HAPPY to, despite it being her 20th b-day!)... well, we stayed there, first being offered the top floor (the quietest one, private, too) then taking a 2nd or 3rd floor dormitory style room (because I'd been in a mountain climbing accident and couldn't yet handle 6 flights of stairs). It was comfy, safe, secure (our luggage was locked up, and we had no bad vibes about the place--people of solid character running it)... anyway, they let us be part of the birthday party then even took us to the club they celebrated at, getting us in for free! It was nothing short of awesome--they really want to let their guests have whatever kind of fun they're into, and they told us all about the stuff to do around town. It was also really cool that they had this bench on the stairs that was for staff member catnaps so that they could all basically live there and have 1 active, 1 resting staff through the less busy hours. Like I said, make sure the one you check into is at 12 Marstelu if you want to go where I did... the rates were astonishingly low (8 euros a night per bed) and there was an abundance of tea, coffee, etc... What's more, a total stranger who worked there offered to get us anything we needed from the store... I needed milk, and she brought it to me! She actually didn't even take my money when I paid her back, so you can imagine they got a very very nice tip when we left. I missed them so much--if I'd known Riga was so fun, I would definitely have stayed there a whole week, even though it was winter--it was such a wonderful place, and December didn't even feel very cold! Seriously, they were fantastic. I hope they are still as wonderful as when I was there so that the whole world (literally) can experience this fun, hip place to comfortably get your zs before seeing the beautiful old town (which to me was the greatest place to be in Riga!)
I spent a weekend at Franks and wished I could stay for longer. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always available to offer tips on where to party. Definitely don't stay here if you are looking for somewhere quiet. I mean, if you are looking for somewhere quiet why not stay at home?
A hole for mad people. Disorder, cleanless, restless, no private rooms available and plenty of unrespectful and drunk people. I wouldn't recommend this place to my friends or anyone looking for a peaceful place after a tough day walking through Riga. The best:Frank's attitude apologizing and giving our money back.
Where does the name come from? From the profit they make by sending customers to be robbed in Roxy nighclub?
We were 6 ladies that went to Baltic hotel to get SPA treatment, the service there was terrible, some of us did not get the treatment we were suppose to get, and i order 1,5 hours massage but got 1 hour only. Every time we asked them something, the answered with a very bad attitude. They did not give us any information if we did not ask them, and every time we asked for information they looked at us like we must have been the most stupid people there.
It's a very good place to stay - happy to recommend. Clean accommodation, friendly service.
We stayed in the hostel from Oct 12 till 15th and found it superb to be honest there was no noise whatsoever and we had a very pleasant and enjoyable 3 nights there , the staff were only to willing to help us with anything we needed and it was spotless clean regarding showers and toilet areas i would recomend it to anyone thats looking for cheap accomodation for a few nights JT
Hotel is old fashion style hotel but ok place to stay for bussiness or vacation - enjoy the large barlounge with beautifull decorations that takes you a half century back in time.. Some room are small and old..but they are being renovated - you cant find more central place to stay to a resonable price
Nice and perfect place in central Old Town (Vecriga) - nice rooms and good service. Had some trouble with doorman and money to let my girlfriend in to the hotel at nights some years ago but they promised to change that...
Beautiful hotel, gret service friendly staff. A little expensive but if you want it you get what you pay for and Grand is definitely worth some more money for nice place.
I must recommend Franks! It's great.
No doubt the ProfitCamp is well located. However it's really noisy cause of the guests who drink a lot. There's also no common room, just some couches in each floor, which are pretty fast overcrowded. The staff was quite unfriendly to non-latvian/russian guests. All in all just a decent hostel.
really friendly indeed - definitely a party atmosphere here, not for the early-to-bed crowd. but if you like a good time and like meeting cool people frank's is the best hostel in town!
We stayed in the suite room with a view over the old town of city. It was amazing. There is a sauna and jacuzzi as well.
your profitcamp description is somewhat inaccurate. it seems very expensive when you consider it is one of the noisiest places i've ever stayed. i feel you should warn potential customers that the staff are young and inexperienced and have no control over the noise levels of the guests and no apparent sanctions to take to reduce the noise. if you're not off your head on drugs then find somewhere else to stay
Alan - thanks for the encouraging review. Hotel Riga sounds just my sort of place!
Rubbish hotel, surly staff, small bathrooms , brown water coming from the taps, concierges who watch your every move, the scum of the scum hotels...
Such a cool hotel! really great neighborhood too, can't wait to go back to riga!@
The Laine Hotel in Riga definitely offers a true Riga experience. If you're a fan of art, paying a bit more to stay here is worth it!
decent and comfortable place. The staff were pleasant enough although i sometimes felt that as a mere customer i was an unwelcome distraction from their real job of watching DVDs and being hungover. First floor was a bit noisy but nice views of young girls doing danceclass in the building opposite;-)
