Drop into Kabata (the pocket) if you are looking to schmooze a little with the not so rich but oh so cutting edge types from the Latvian arts scene.
Kabata was the site of the first independent theatre in Latvia, when the country was still under the control of the Soviet Union. It maintains many of the theatrical traditions (in fact, it's still used to stage performances), but doubles as a disco favouring hard local rock at night, and a coffee shop in the daytime.
A cool place to be seen, to hang out with the locals, and to spend a little time without spending too much cash.

Great little cellar type club, a bit too rough around the edges. Saturday night wasn't bad here playing bassy house music. Great locals too.
