Everyone often finds themselves thinking, "my, I wish I could have Indian and Thai food in one night, but I can't eat two dinners!" Naturally, a solution to this epidemic had to arise, and it's called Indian Raja: an Indian restaurant with Thai dishes, and a few Chinese plates as well. The vegetarian choices are also extensive. The atmosphere seems a bit schizophrenic as well, with Indian but also Asian decor, and the attractive Latvian waitresses wear saris.

I moved to Latvia with my Latvian wife some three years since. I must say it is hard in winter living on a north rural estate. We cant always get out to our stock. I have been to India and have loved their cuisine and have tried to cook even the simplest curry sauce but Latvia has no shop who sell the ingredients. Latvians hate chilli so where does one trot to find an Indian grocer in Riga.

It used to be a nice place with good kitchen, but not any more. We went there with my wife for a lunch last weekend and were disappointed. We ordered Pork Vindaloo and Chicken Korma. What we got was kind of fast food: pre-boiled meat was mixed with an appropriate sauce (probably, from a can). The pork was as hard as a shoe sole. I could hardly cut it with a knife. I like Indian food and often cook it myself. This meal had nothing to do with Indian food...just a quick “lazybones” version. Considering the prices that are a way too high for Riga, the place definitely isn't worth visiting. I advice against it...

Dear VN DALMIA!!!

How on earth small place like Latvia could be experts in Indian food, do you have any Latvian restaurants in India, besides Indian cuisine is very regional and very different( i know, iam food stylist in london).Just because you are fladding United Kingdom express speed doesnt give you rights to put small place down, give a chance!!!!!!!!!!

Give me a break. This place doesn't know its Indian food from its African. They have a small time cook which they've pulled out from a small town in a small hill state in Northern India. The guy can't make Chicken Tikka to satisfy the most undiscerning Britisher (let alone an Indian). He can't do a decent Paneer dish (he coats the Paneer with batter and then fries the batter!). He doesn't know the difference between a Nan and a Tandoori Roti-he makes both with the same flour.

The only reason this restaurant survives is that people in Riga don't know better.

Great place, great atmosphere, and the food was quite nice, with a good selection. Recommended!
