Spanish food is incredibly popular in Riga. How else would one explain the presence of not one but ten Don Gastronom outlets dotted around the city.
Despite the emphasis on the Mediterranean, the enterprise does seem to have a local feel, and both Latvians and Russians shop in these places - which is a good reason for visitors to follow suit.
Inside, you will be faced with a vast treasure trove of the finest meats, sausages, wines, olives, conserves, brandy... in fact just about everything needed to create a Spanish banquet in the comfort of your own home or hostel kitchen.
