Want to try some authentic Latvian cuisine? Well we've got to hand it to you kid, you've sure got guts. Actually it's not all that bad... Some Latvians even like it. Here at Alus Seta you're at an immediate advantage because the food is served from behind a buffet and you can have a good look before you plump for anything. Pork ribs and shashlik are local faves, whilst a plethora of salads and side dishes will help fill any empty spaces on your plate. Once you've pointed at everything you want, take your dish to the counter and let the staff guestimate how much you've spent, according to weight. It normally works out a bargain...

This was a great first dinner in Riga for me. Plenty of meaty dishes as well as lighter salad bar items. I had Kefir, grey peas, pork, smoked salmon, herring, shrimp on a kabob, fresh raspberries and cream. All really good!
Much cheaper than most places in Riga, and the quality is quite good for the price. The food wasn't too salty for me, but perhaps I just like my food very salty!
We went here and... wow, what a huge amount of food for next to nothing. That said, we (an American and a Finn) were overwhelmed a bit from the sheer amount of salt in the food and couldn't finish it (which made us sad in a way, because it was pretty well-prepared, just... with too much salt!) Backpackers will definitely appreciate the value pricing overall, since there are other spots around that certainly *don't* allow such a large portion for such a small price! We were able to easily share a plate with the way they piled it up.
Went here for lunch and really liked it , the food on offer is tasty and cheap and very regional
I visited Alus Seta once two years ago and few times in July this year. Traditional food, excellent deserts, laid back atmosphere. So I can strongly recommend this place for people who like good food and quiet, not splendor. Hope to visit this place again and again.
