It is said that many a grand adventure has been inspired by browsing the shelves of Jana Seta, which was the first of its kind when it opened in 1994. It's a claim that is easy to believe for an outlet that offers plans and literature about just about every corner of the world, from city plans to maps of vast expanses of near emptiness in the planet's most inhospitable quarters.
Riga's eager adventurers stop off here first before they head over the horizon. There's also a fabulous opportunity here to buy and view copies of the former Soviet Army topographical maps.
