Art Fusion Exhibition

Sofia's GreenCat Gallery hosts a very special exhibition entitled ‘Lost traditions, Modern expressions’, at Crystal Palace Boutique hotel, 14 Shipka Street, Sofia.

The exhibition will combine two artists who, apparently, have absolutely nothing in common - famous German XVII century map maker Matthaeus Merian (1593 – 1650), and the 25- year old ceramics artist Georgi Milenov.

Although map making today may no longer be considered an art, it has lost its creative aspect to be replaced by technological and high tech features, Merian’s XVII century works were not only part of at the, at that moment, art of engraving, but form a scientific basis of XVII century knowledge on Geography; Georgi Milenov, on the other hand is part of hundreds’ years old tradition of Troyan ceramics, the town where he is born, and which today still finds new ways of expressions within its ancient traditions.
