Bulgarian PM eyes soccer prize

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borosov stands a chance of winning his country's soccer player of the year competition.

Sounds a bit fishy, you might think.

Well, for those of you who are not au fait with Bulgarian soccer, Mr Borosov is in fact a player for third division side Vitosha Bistritsa.

There's no way for me to admit I'm a poor player, he once quipped.

Manchester United player Dimitar Berbatov has been winning the contest year in, year out, but this year, the fans themselves are allowed to vote.

The PM has streaked into the lead thus far.

Sports journalists will then choose the ultimate winner from the top twenty players on the list.

As it goes, the prime minister is not only a nifty soccer player. He also has a black belt in karate, and is partial to the occasional game of tennis.
