The oldest restaurant in St. Petersburg, and some would say the best, Palkin first opened its doors in 1785 and again in 2002 following renovations. High ceilings, elaborate stucco work, chandeliers and grand pianos go a long way to recreating the atmosphere of St. Petersburg's glory days - and sycophantic staff and dishes that once graced the tables of Russia's Tsars and Tsarinas certainly help too! If you choose to dine in the splendid New Concert Hall you can even enjoy live musical performances with your lobsters' necks and black caviar. All-in-all an unforgettable experience.

Ambience is nice and service is good. however, I must say I was sorely disappointed with the food. I had a tasting menu with wine pairing - I didn't think the menu was well though out. Maybe they have a special menu for tourists?
cooking style was repetitive and starter and main courses were both fish. Variety sorely lacking except in the wine pairing.
An evening filled with delicious food and wonderful surprises. The service is impeccable. The choice of music however ( rock and roll) doesn't fully match the ambiance.
What an amazing experience. Food and service was out of this world. Will find it hard to find another better than this
Food is still very far from most Michelin stared restaurants in Europe or the USA... but the prices have definitely caught up!
Enjoyed a magical meal in Palkin - one of the best restaurants I've been to in the world, let alone Saint Petersburg, or Russia!!! Great ambiance, service, and the food was sumptuous. I hope i get the chance to return to St Petersburg - and Palkin - soon!
