When you ask in Szczyrk where to get some decent local specialties, the locals will surely point to Stara Karczma (The Old Inn). The chef serves regional dishes, based on old recipes, such as zurek, the sour rye soup, or kwasnica, the sauerkraut soup with pork, as well as a variety of meats, including mutton. And to make this somewhat heavy meal a bit more digestible, feel free to taste some of Karczma's local, home made mead, mulled vine and beers. All this is served in a genuine highlander decor, accompanied by these specific, fiddling tunes of regional music.
