Bridge over the river Narva
TALLINN, July 22 (Itar-Tass) - Estonia and Russia have agreed to build a new bridge across the Narva River.
Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin and Estonian Economic and Communications Minster Edgar Savisaar signed the corresponding protocol in Tallinn on Saturday.
The highway between St. Petersburg and Tallinn is one of the most important transport links between Russia and Estonia and European Union countries.
There is a bridge linking Estonia's Narva with Russia's Ivangorod. The bridge traffic capabilities are limited. The load increased after Estonia joined the European Union. According to the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, the bridge accounts for 60 percent of all the vehicle cargo transportation from Russia to European Union countries.
