Estonia Sends IT Geeks To Defend Georgia

In an unlikely move, and a world first as far as we are aware, Estonia has sent - not a platoon of elite troops or the very latest in military hardware - but a pair of IT geeks, sorry "experts", to defend Georgia's sovereignty against Russian aggression.

After attacks on government and commercial websites have been perpetrated - almost certainly by Russian keyboards - Estonia, no stranger to Russian e-sabotage, has sent two specialists in information security from the Computer Emergency Response Team to lend their considerable brainpower to the problems of virtual attacks.

Like Georgia, Estonia broke free from the Soviet Union in 1991 and the small but plucky country is always amongst the first to speak out against Russia's aggressive foreign policies and bullying tactics. The Estonian experts have started by hosting Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs website on Estonian assets.
