Editor's review
The last emperor was compelled to flee almost ninety years ago, but the Hofburg remains one of Vienna's crowning glories. And these days, the absence of dukes and duchesses means than it's much easier to have a schmooze around the palace interiors. Of course, technically the Emperor was available to every subject across the Empire, but only one at a time, so not everyone got the chance. The palace has been a focal point since 1279, and over the centuries it expanded across a considerable stretch of land. Tickets for the Kaiserappartements are 8.90 Euros, half price for under 15s.
