Editor's review
Built in 1980, the Television Tower is the tallest structure in the city, rising 326.5 m (taller than the Eiffel!). During the fight for independence, the TV Tower became a focus of Soviet aggression. On January 13, 1991 Soviet tanks encircled and assaulted the tower, killing 14 unarmed civilians and injuring hundreds more. Visitors will find several evocative monuments around the tower and a small, but stirring museum on the ground floor. A restaurant and observation platform at a height of 190 metres rotate oh so slowly, but you'll have to pay the lofty price of 21 lt to see the panorama of Vilnius. On New Year's Eve, the TV Tower is draped with lights from the observation deck to the ground (making it one of Europe's largest "Christmas trees") and spouts fireworks; and on summer weekends you can bungee jump from 280 metres!
