Jonas Mekas is a Lithuanian artist living in New York - to where he emigrated shortly after the end of the second world war. His legacy here in Vilnius is a modern and exciting visual arts centre, which offers visitors an insight into Mekas' work, and that of Jurgis Mačiūnas.
They are not the only artists represented at this easily accessible gallery, and there are regular exhibitions featuring the forays into intermedia art of the Fluxus movement, which began as a loose network of contemporary artists who experimented with combining the various media of visual art.
If you want to look deeper, you can take part in one of the regular educational projects run at the centre.
