Editor's review
Lithuania's turbulent and fascinating history is laid bare at the New Arsenal museum, whose treasures have been on display in Vilnius since the mid-19th century.
It is a museum which tracks not just the political history of a nation and commonwealth member, but looks in depth at the everyday lives of Lithuanian folk from the town and the countryside.
There's been a building of some sort on the site since the 14th century, and the one that is home to the New Arsenal today is in fact one of the oldest of its kind.
Look out especially for the monument outside the museum - commemorating King Mindaugas, who united Lithuania way back in the 13th century.
