Reflecting the still close and, in some quarters, controversial ties between Lithuania and Russia, this is a theatre that straddles the cultural boundary and puts art firmly before politics.
Although you can certainly expect to stumble upon a performance of, for example, Maxim Gorky, there are also a lot of other contemporary shows, in Russian and Lithuanian. If you're not comfortable with either of those languages it is usually still possible to find something on the programme to suit you - as many of the performances are musical based, and this is a great venue for concerts too.
