Editor's review
Oskaras Korunovas Theatre has, since it was established in 1999, remained a stubbornly independent stage. Such dedication to the art of theatre could easily have shut the place down in the early years, as the Lithuanian public bodies, even in the capital Vilnius, were simply not ready for such an up-front attitude and were correspondingly reluctant to part with cash to support the venture.
But, it's still there, and has gone from strength to strength since those early days. Now, you can expect to find avant garde performances one day, and world classics from the likes of William Shakespeare the next. The business of show, it would seem, is booming.
