This large open-air sculpture park 10 km north of Vilnius was created to make a destination out of the silly scientific claim that the geographic centre of Europe is nearby (somewhere...). As a worthwhile attraction, it succeeds: there is a lovely collection of over 90 large modern art pieces displayed against the natural backdrop of 55 hectares of rolling hills and forest. Included is the Guinness Book of World Records inductee, LNK Infomedis by park founder, G. Karosas: the largest sculpture in the world made up of old television sets. The park also harbors one of Lithuania's two monuments marking the exact centre of the continent, and souvenirs are inescapable at the park shop. Though Europos Parkas is difficult to get to if you don't have a car, it is the ideal place to escape the city, throw a frisbee, have a picnic, and be in the outdoors. It is easy to get to by public transport. Bus No 146 (Skirgiškės) leaves from Žalgirio stop at Kavarijų Street and goes all the way to the park itself. Check the timetable here!

This place looks really great fun! It reminds me a bit of the Lem Science Garden in my home town of Krakow - a great place to get out and enjoy! If I come to Vilnius, I will definitely go to Europos Parkas!
