Though it's a bit of an initial hike from the train and bus stations, the location becomes one of this place's biggest assets, depending on your outlook. Well off the beaten path, even within Uzupis, the charm of this neighborhood goes a long way toward making you feel like you're seeing the city in your own way. Turn up and they won't turn you away, in fact they can accommodate almost any combination of people for a good price. There is a small kitchen at your disposal and a back patio where you'll meet people of all ages from all over and a long-haired dog that it will inevitably be your turn to feed. The receptionists don't speak English, but are intuitive when it comes to body language and hand gestures. Rooms are basic and prices are seasonal; check the website.

It really captures the essence of Vilnius for me. When I was there, there was no way you would characterize this place as anything but a hostel. But now it looks like the prices have gone up and maybe that's why it isn't listed as one. Expect old-world hostel standard when you arrive. It's all charm, baby...
