Warsaw Property

Looking for the next best place to invest in property? You could do far worse than investigating the opportunities arising in Poland's resurgent capital. Almost entirely destroyed in World War II following the Warsaw Uprising, the city was badly neglected in Soviet times and only began to come into its own following the fall of the Iron Curtain. The rejuvenation process hasn't been painless or quick, however since joining the EU in 2004 a massive acceleration has occurred in the city's development.

The evidence that foreign businesses are investing in Warsaw is everywhere. In fact, at times, the entire metropolis ressembles one giant building site, as hundreds of renovation, restoration and construction projects slowly change the face of the city. What are the reasons behind all this development? Simple! Cheap property, sustained growth rates, abundance of skilled, multi-lingual labour, plus excellent connections to the rest of Europe, all make the Polish capital a very attractive prospect for investors looking to set up shop. With a forecasted annual growth of 13% , now is definitely the time to snap up that office space or flat in Warsaw!

Below is a list of property gurus that can help you navigate the sometimes complicated but almost always profitable - world of real estate. Before you start though, you might want to read through our note about 'The Law'!

The Law on Purchasing a Property in Poland

Citizens of EU countries, as well as Icelanders, Norwegians and Liechtensteiners get the fast track on buying property in Poland, although if you're after farmland or forest, things can be a little more complicated. However, as far as urban property goes, applicants shouldn't encounter too many problems - whether you're a citizen of one the aforementioned countries or not. Non EU-ers have to apply for a special permit from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but this is generally forthcoming, provided you're not a notorious criminal.
