Chopin and His Europe Festival

Fri 15th
Aug

The 4th International Music Festival "Chopin and His Europe" in Warsaw: From Pogorelich to Tchaikowski will bring 23 concerts, 9 symphonic programmes, 14 piano recitals and chamber concerts, and over 200 performers to the capital city. The festival aims to familiarize the listener with the heritage of Romanticism in classical music, from Mozart to Chopin to modern composers following the tradition. This year's edition particularly emphasizes the eminent and sadly forgotten Polish pianist and composer Andrzej Czajkowski (Andre Tchaikowsky), whose 2nd piano concerto, originally composed in 1975, will be premièred at the festival. Amongst Polish masters of the ivory keys, some the contemporary greats from all over the world will perform, including Ivo Pogorelich, who inaugurates the festival, Michie Koyama, Piers Lane and Alexei Lubimov, amongst many others, including some younger pianists. Polish orchestras will also take part, including the Warsaw Philharmonic under Antoni Wit.
