Opera: Faust
Sun 24th
Jan
The German legend of Faust, filtered through the mind of Goethe and the libretto of Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, was transformed into an unforgettable opera by French composer Charles Gounod in 1859. As with the countless interpretations of the tale, this Faust deals with a man trading with the devil and in this case, it's the man's soul in exchange for youthful looks. Performances start at 6 or 7pm and run for three and a half hours.
