this job advert is also available in pdf at http://bit.ly/adXgob **CEE Bankwatch Network seeks a MEDIA OFFICER* * Bankwatch is an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) with member organisations currently from 12 countries across the central and eastern European region. The aim of the network is to monitor the activities of the international financial institutions that operate in the region and to propose constructive alternatives to their policies and projects in the region. Bankwatch is currently seeking a highly motivated media officer to join its media team and help support the network's campaign and policy work. We offer the chance to work on a diverse and dynamic range of activities with huge implications for people and the environment in central and eastern Europe and beyond. The primary responsibility of the media officer will be to ensure effective communication of and coverage by target media (print and online, traditional and new) of Bankwatch campaign and policy messaging. This work will be form an integral part of our targeted advocacy to achieve our strategic goals. *Person specification* The ideal candidate will meet the following profile: * Proven track-record of press work for a campaigning organisation and ability to achieve coverage by target media * Previous experience working with international media * Experience using social media tools to compliment media work is welcome * Strong communication - verbal and written - and networking skills * Excellent attention to detail, good time management and organisational skills, and proven ability to deliver under pressure * Native or English fluency with written and spoken Russian abilities preferred * Familiarity with and a strong interest in financial and environmental issues. * Creative and strategic thinker * Able to share skills and motivate **Job description* * Primary responsibilities of the media officer will include the following - * Carrying out proactive media outreach work to Brussels-based media, as well as relevant other international media including journalists in the regions of Bankwatch activities, eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union regions. * Drafting and disseminating Bankwatch press releases and other media materials, including but not limited to securing article space for opinion pieces, letters to editors and producing such content * Coordinating and supervising editing of English texts * Building and maintaining media contact information. * Collaboratively working on refining and defining campaign messages and strategies. * Coordinating staff development in the areas of media know-how and advocacy through trainings and other personal development * Additional responsibilities may be agreed upon dependent on specific skills and interests. *How to apply* This is a full-time position, based in one of Bankwatch's offices across central and eastern Europe, subject to a three month trial period.
