Christmas Market Details Announced
The traditional Christmas Market, located on the Market Square of Warsaw's Old Town, is one of the city's top draws during the holiday season - and it's not hard to see why. Rustic food, folk crafts and gifts, and special performances and Christmas-themed celebrations make this market a truly unique place.
This year, the market's stalls will be selling: festive baked goods, rustic smoked and cured meat, regional bread, sweets, highlander's cheese, handmade crafts, jewellry, amber, ceramics, glass works, traditional costumes, and special Christmas decorations. An illuminated carousel, living Nativity scene, and of course visit from Santa himself, will surely keep the kids entertained.
In addition, a few creators of the many traditional crafts on sale will be publicly displaying their working process, including a wood carver, a metalsmith, and a candlemaker.
With all these things to see and do, visitors will surely need to rest their feet and warm up with some food and drink. Luckily the Christmas Market serves plenty of traditional fare including hot meals, top quality chocolate, and mulled wine and beer.
As if all the above wasn't enough, each day is full of special performances by bands and dancers from Poland and abroad. Groups from Lithuania will perform on November 27th (6pm, 8pm), 28th (2pm, 4pm, 8pm), and 29th (2pm, 4pm). Groups from the Polish region of Kadzidlo will perform on November 27th (2pm, 3pm, 4pm), 28th (1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm) and on the 29th (3pm, 5pm, 6pm). Finally, Slovakia will also be represented by performers on the 10th, 11th and 12th of December every hour from 2pm to 8pm.
The Christmas Market will be open from November 27th until December 23rd 2009 at the Old Town's Market Square (known as the Rynek Starego Miasta in Polish).

ReplyHi Charles and Rose! Yes - the 'Rynek Starego Miasta' translates to 'Old Town Market Square'. Thanks for the heads up - I will make a clarification in the text above. Hope you have fun in Warsaw this winter!
