National Stadium Delayed

The construction of the National Stadium, which was expected to open in June of this year, has been delayed several months. With much of the stadium already completed, the construction is expected to drag on until the end of 2011.

However, an official opening ceremony, filled with music, dance, and special effects, has been scheduled for 27 August with 55 thousand people expected to attend. Another event is scheduled to take place even a few days earlier on 6 August, with one of the Red Bull X-Fighters motocross finals already in the calendar. Whether these events will go through in a partially finished stadium is not clear at the moment.

The National Stadium, located on the right bank of the Vistula River, will host five matches, including the opening game, as part of the Euro 2012 football championship.
