Krasinski Gardens to Undergo Renovations
As Poland's greenest city, Warsaw has plenty of green space, and several stunning parks and gardens. A central city favourite is Krasinksi Gardens, located in the district of Muranow and dating back to 1676. The gardens surround the baroque Krasisnki Palace, which now functions as a branch of the National Library.
The park has been looking a little neglected as of late, so the city decided to commission a facelift for the gardens. The company that won the competition to modernize Krasinski Gardens, Abeis Landscape Architecture, has plans to use a light touch, inspired by the famous Warsaw garden designer Franciszek Szanior.
Planned changes to the park include: removal of unhealthy trees to add more visibility throughout the park, building a historic fence around the space, clean8hg up the flower bed in front of the palace, and updating the playground, paths, as well as the park's pond.
The renovated Krasinski Gardens are scheduled to open in 2014.
