Chopin Airport Rail Link Ready for Euro

A rail link connecting Warsaw's Chopin Airport with the city centre has been completed and will officially open on schedule on 1 June 2012. This lands just one week before the first kick off as part of the UEFA Euro 2012 championship. Warsaw will be hosting the opening game as well as four other matches throughout the Euro.

For the convenience of the football fans arriving to the city, the train's greetings have been recorded not just in Polish, but also in English, Russian, and Greek, in honour of the teams who will compete in the group stages in Warsaw.

The Warsaw airport station (Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina) will be served by several rail connections including the Szybka Kolej Miejska (SKM) and the Koleje Mazowieckie. For example, the S2 line will start at the airport, going through Warsaw's east station (Warszawa Zachodnia) through to the Central Station (Warszawa Srodmiescie) where the official Euro Fan Zone is located. It will continue to Warszawa Stadion, next to the National Stadium, ending finally at Sulejowek Milosna station. The entire trip will take 50 minutes, but simply reaching the city centre from the airport will take approximately 25 minutes.
