Editor's review
Most towns in Poland have a Rynek, (aka Rynek Glowny or Main Market Square), but few have one quite as splendid as Wroclaw's. Painstakingly reconstructed after WWII left it in tatters, brightly-painted Burgher houses line each side of the Square, their steeply-angled rooftops forming a splendid sawtooth skyline. Almost every building on the Rynek is worth closer inspection (especially if it houses a an attractive looking pub!), but the Town Hall stands out as the spectacular centrepiece, with its 66m tower, gothic and baroque reliefs and astronomical clock. The Sukiennice (Cloth Hall) which occupies the centre of the Square hides a number of good shops and bars in its narrow alleyways.

I really think this market square is one of the most beautiful in Poland - Krakow's may be bigger but I think Wroclaw's has more charm.
The place to start all your travels in Wroclaw! Nearly everything is walking distance from here.
