Editor's review
Wrocław Contemporary Museum was established in 2011 in temporary premises – a former WW II air raid shelter in Strzegomski Sq., in the vicinity of the Racłowice Panorama, the Museum of Architecture and Academy of Fine Arts.
The WCM presents the works of contemporary artists, both Wroclaw and Polish: Carolee Schneemann, Karol Radziszewski, Anna Molska, Hubert Czeperok, Stanisław Dróżdż, Michał Diament, Włodzimierz Borowski, Wanda Gołkowska, Dora Maurer, Allan Sekula. A particular emphasis is put on the works of Wroclaw's neo avant guard: Jan Chwałczyk, Natalia LL. The collection of WCM includes also a deposit of Lower Silesia Refined Arts Society, concentrated on works by artists representing the artistic traditions of Wroclaw.
Apart from exhibition space, an archive, an urban activities area, and the 'live museum', the museum's roof houses KLUB—MUZEUM – a cafe featuring a panoramic view of the area.
Apart from acting as an exhibiting institution, the museum contributes to educating in the area of arts by organising family workshops, debates and lectures.
