I have been to see the Panorama twice, the second time taking my parents and I was just as awe struck the second time as I was the first. My parents loved it too but then we have always liked art and appreciated the work involved in creating skillfully produced paintings and this ranks among the best in my view and it's a shame the artists themselves are not known well outside eastern europe. The painting generated an interest in me to learn more about Kościuszko. For those who want to know more the information is out there...go find it!
VERY ignorant and biassed to say that you should pass up all the great treasures of Polish art - perhaps especially the profoundly significant and rich religious art - and go to the contemporary stuff at the top floor. What neanderthal wrote THAT? When I've gone there - I've found the modern stuff sometimes inspiring, sometimes frightening, but also often banal, cheap-looking and childish (little real artistic ability or creativity to offer). Someone who is capable of appreciating the merits of ALL kinds of art and not writing off close to a thousand years of artistic history, should write the review. Museum -7 Reviewer - 0
The Raclawice Panorama is a breath-taking piece of historical art. Because my roots are in Poland, the experience of standing before it was profound. If you are not from Poland, but appreciate and value true historical art, I encourage you to visit the beautiful panorama and other amazing sights in Wroclaw, Krakow, and other great cities in Poland. The country, from cities to towns, to quaint villages, is stunning. I live in the USA, but Poland will always be held close to my heart.
