Thanks Jimi Festival
One of Wroclaw's quirkiest events takes place every year on May 1st - the Thanks Jimi Festival. The festival grew out of an annual event which began in 1997, when a group of guitar players met on the Market Square to play Hendrix's "Hey Joe". Every year the numbers grew and the last couple of years have seen over a 1000 guitarists at the event, joining in and continuously breaking the Guinness World Record for most guitars playing simultaneously.
This year the star performer at the festival will be classic hard rockers Deep Purple, who will play later the same day at Pola Marsowe. Those participating in the record breaking will have the opportunity to buy tickets for this concert for just 40 zloty. Regular tickets are 100-120 zloty.
The "Hey Joe" record breaking attempt will take place at noon with the Deep Purple concert beginning at 7pm.
