Exhibition: To the Beat of the Times

Wed 1st
Jul

Step back to the tumultuous 20s and 30s at the National Museum's "To the Beat of the Times" exhibition. Showcasing clothing from the interwar period, the museum has pulled some of its most stylish items displaying the role of fashion in the society of this era. After the First World War, a new kind of affluent metropolitan woman emerged and this collection shows exactly what these members of the intelligentsia were wearing. The classic flapper dress is certainly on display, as well as bias-cut satin dresses, new nightwear (pajamas and kimono-style dressing gowns), and the Polish take on a robe de style. This chic garment was derivative of the popular dropped-waist chemise dress but with a fuller skirt, sometimes supported by a crinolette. Take a break from paintings and sculptures and learn about Poland's history through fashion! Starts May 16th.
