Musica Electronica Nova Festival
Lovers of contemporary classical and electroacoustic music will be pleased to hear that Wroclaw's Musica Electronica Nova festival is up for another year of great music this May.
Electroacoustic music grew from experimental approaches to the technological advances of the early 20th century when synthesis and analog synthesizers were born. Another vital development was the genesis of modern day sampling techniques, which were originally created by cutting magnetic tapes. As technology has advanced, composers of a classical music background have continued to meld electronic music with more traditional instrumentation. Taking place throughout the city, the festival will feature performances of composers such as Pierre Boulez and Karlheinz Stockhausen by orchestras and ensembles such as Ictus of Brussels.
