there are places nearer than Zakopane for snowboarding for sure. The Sudety mountains are near by. Not being a snowboarder myself, i don't have a clue where you should head but just ask at the tourist office when you get here and i'm sure they'll be able to point u in the right direction. Zakopane is nice but very touristy - there is also a website www.zakopane-life.com which you can check out
