Holiday Season Kicks Off in Wroclaw
The holiday season is well and truly underway in Wroclaw, with the Old Town's cobblestoned streets lit up with glittering decorations and the nostalgic Christmas Market open for business.
Many visitors to Wroclaw come to the city in December specifically for the Market on Rynek (main Square), and it's no wonder why. The Christmas Market's wooden stalls are filled with unique handicrafts and regional specialties from jewelry to cloth and food in particular (think roasted hazelnuts, cheese, mulled wine). It's also a great place to fill up on grilled sausages, pork knuckle, and potato pancakes.
Don't forget to check out the Market Square's two beautiful 20-metre Christmas trees, too! The city has done a remarkable job dressing up its streets and buildings this year, but that's hardly surprising considering the cost. A staggering 1.4 million zloty was spent by the city on illuminations alone!
