Wroclaw Wins 2017 World Games Bid

The city of Wroclaw has won its bid to host the World Games in 2017. With Cape Town having pulled out of the race due to financial reasons, Budapest was Wroclaw's biggest rival up until the official announcement on 12 January.

The World Games is an international sporting event organized by International World Games Association, under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. The Wroclaw edition will see a total of 28 different sports included in the competitions, such as body building, billiards, bowling, and gymnastics. Traditionally, sports in the world games are simply those which are not already associated with the Olympics.

The next World Games will take place in Cali, Columbia in July and August of 2013.
