Headliners for Jazz Nad Odra Festival Announced

Details of the 48th edition of the Jazz Nad Odra (Jazz on the Odra) festival have been announced, including the festival's new dates: 18-22 April 2012. The festival has been on the city's cultural calendar since 1964.

The main star of Jazz Nad Odra, known as one of Wroclaw's most prestigious music festivals, will be acclaimed American jazz saxophonist and composer Branford Marsalis. Also set to perform are Freddy Cole, Jon Faddis, and the Darek Oleszkiewicz Quartet in collaboration with American saxophonist Chris Potter.

On the final day of the festival the Armenian pianist Tigran will perform alongside Swedish bassist Lars Danielsson. For the closing concert, Polish jazz icon Tomasz Stanko (trumpet) will perform. The festival has also opened the annual competition to perform for young jazz hopefuls, which will be open until March 5. For more information head to the official festival website.
