Euro 2012 Fever in Wroclaw

Wroclaw had the honour to host the second match on the first day of the UEFA Euro 2012 football championship this month, with two more group stage matches to go in Wroclaw.

The first match to take place in the brand new Municipal Stadium was between Russia and the Czech Republic on 8 June, with Russia easily taking the lead in Group A after winning a 4-1 victory against the Czechs. This puts Russia on the top spot of Group A with 3 points, followed by one point each to Greece and Poland, finishing with the Czech Republic with zero points.

Wroclaw will host two more matches: Greece vs Czech Republic on 12 June, and Czech Republic vs Poland on 16 June.

Even if you haven't got a ticket to the stadium matches, you can still experience Wroclaw's Euro 2012 fever at the official fan zone in the Old Town's Market Square and nearby Plac Solny which offers space for thousands of fans and several large screens with live feeds of all the Euro games. There are also two other areas in Wroclaw where you can watch a game on a large screen outdoors - in front of the Centennial Hall ("Hala Stulecia") and at the Carlsberg FanCamp at 57 Lotnicza street.
